Breaking Darkness: Lars von Trier at Nikolaj Kunsthal
Experience Lars von Trier’s universe like never before as Nikolaj Kunsthal transforms into a total installation where film and visual art merge. Breaking Darkness pays tribute to the iconic filmmaker with five site-specific installations and exclusive photo artworks, creating a sensory journey through his most renowned works.
From Breaking the Waves to Melancholia and Dogville, the films are reimagined in the historic church setting, enhancing their aesthetic and thematic depth. Visitors can also watch all five films in a specially designed mini-cinema during the exhibition.
Breaking Darkness is presented in collaboration with Zentropa and Jens-Otto Paludan/Freeze Frame Gallery and runs from February 8 to July 27, 2025. Learn more at nikolajkunsthal.dk.
