LARS VON TRIER
AT NIKOLAJ KUNSTHAL
In 2025, Breaking Darkness brought Lars von Trier’s films into the historic church spaces of Nikolaj Kunsthal in Copenhagen.
Five site-specific installations combined film and visual art. Photographic works from ARTvonTRIER were presented alongside the installations, bringing individual frames into the exhibition space.
From Breaking the Waves to Melancholia and Dogville, the films took on a different presence within the church’s architecture. A specially designed mini-cinema also screened the five films during the exhibition.
